Fall Into Math: A Fall Themed Math Hunt

My kids just did our spooky halloween math hunt this past week and LOVED it. I can't wait to use this one in November!

Monstrous Monsters!

Hey Guys! 

This past week at school was a super duper short week-can I get a Hallelujah?! Thursday was a half day and we had Friday "off" for conferences. Since our week was so short we did not take Language Arts in 3rd grade SO seriously ;) What I mean by that is we didn't do the usual grades/worksheets/packets/tests/etc! Instead we had a week full of MONSTERS!

It was so fun! Our week was based around writing a story about monsters. Here are some pictures from what that included!

The first thing the kids did was pick a prompt. Of course I had to make a cute slide for this right?!

Then, they used a graphic organizer to help them get their creative juices flowing! After they had their draft, peer reviewed, and wrote their final copy, they got to CREATE their Monster. This was so fun for them. In our district, 3rd grade is the FIRST year that  we take grades. So, that leaves less room for craftivities. :( This was a treat for them! Here are some of our monsters:

My team decided to put these out on our hallway bulletin board. My cameo is such a lifesaver when it comes to bulletin board letters! PLUS-I get to use any font I want! Yes, please! I also couldn't resist printing these adorable monsters to add to it. I LOVE the way it turned out!

To wrap up our week we read, "There Was An Old Monster!" Super cute book! And like the one in the last post, it too has a song to go along with it from Scholastic!

Let me tell you, these monsters definitely got me through this week! I sure am feeling it! Teaching/creating/wedding planning/moving/house stuff is wearing me out a little bit! Haha but I love it!

I know a lot of you all are doing "spooky" stuff this week and next as well! I can't wait to blog hop and see the fun things going on in yall's classrooms!

Next Week in {Speech} & Friday Fall Freebie!

Hi Everyone! 

WOW!! This school year if flying by! It's about this time that I feel I am searching for new ideas as it seems I've gone through all of the units I planned this summer. Here is a peek at what's happening next week in speech. Hopefully, you'll get new ideas to send you through October! I would love to hear your ideas as well, so feel free to share them in the comments below!

For my younger kids we will pretend to be monsters as we read/sing, "If You're a Monster and You Know It." I read this book with one of my Kindergarten groups this week and they absolutely LOVED it! The book even has a sing-a-long on the Scholastic website!

We'll also be coloring these Halloween-themed "Color-by-Word" activity sheets. These coloring pages are perfect for addressing multiple articulation goals in a single session. I also plan on sending them home as a carry-over activity. 

Many of my kids struggle with making predictions and inferences. I will be using this awesome, Halloween-themed inferencing game to address NUMEROUS IEP goals! The activity comes with 18 inference cards and a "how to make an inference" poster. Grab it at my TpT store! 

And for my "non-speech" related activity...I will be decorating my door for Drug Free week at school! This year the theme is, "Be a Hero. Be Drug Free." Of course, I immediately thought of the Superhero Melonheadz! I think I may have a slight obsession with them, but they are so adorable! Check back soon! I'll post pictures of my door once it's completed! :)

Finally, I will start printing, cutting and laminating (not my favorite task at all) my November Speech and Language unit! This time I have also added a "Parent Newsletter" informing parents of our upcoming objectives, along with the books we will be reading! Parent communication is extremely important and a newsletter is a great way to reach multiple parents at once! Grab the November Mega Bundle today and start planning with me!

A {Peek At My Week} plus Friday Fall Freebie!!

Hey Yall!!

Before I post our 2nd Friday Fall Freebie, I wanted to show you a quick peek at my week (next week)!! 

Next week is a short week for us-PTL!! We have conferences so we have a half day on Thursday and the day off on Friday to do Parent-Teacher Conferences. I scheduled mine throughout the week so I only have TWO on Friday! woohoo!! That means lots of time to get ahead in planning, getting our holiday bulletin board up, and taking a nice long lunch ;) I used Sign Up Genius for my parents to sign up for conferences. I LOVE it. If you have never heard of it, check it out!!

I just finished and posted these comprehension posters in our store. I can't wait to get them printed, laminated, and up in our classroom library next week! print. cut. laminate. repeat. Am I right?!

On Monday our new washer and dryer are being delivered!! Yippeeee!! I can't wait to do laundry once I finally live in my new house (80 days!!). Did I just say I WANT to do laundry? HA!! Don't tell the future hubby!

For math centers this week I plan on having my kids go on this spooky math hunt around the classroom! These include word problems that have time, money, addition, and subtraction concepts. I hope they love it!

Friday Fall Freebie! {October Linky}

What a blessing it was to have today off!! I got some much needed rest and things done. Like shopping those labor day sales!!

Speaking of those sales we got some great stuff today!! As you might have read from our below post...I am engaged to the best guy ever, and we are getting married in December. We just bought our first home and today we got some amazing stuff for it! One thing being these beauties!!!

I am ready for some leggings, boots, scarfs, cooler weather, and of course pumpkin spice lattes. And fall means it is that much closer to our wedding day! :)

Well that is pretty self explanatory! ;)

3 goals:

I have been doing so well at eating healthier!! I can already see and feel a difference in myself. I want to keep it up! I also want to stick to my workout schedule...last week was near impossible with the first week of school, but I'm ready to get back to it! I also want to work on waking up in the morning and starting my day with prayer. I am so blessed and want to keep a humble heart. :)

Loving: 

Speech therapy sessions start tomorrow! I am very excited to see all my students! We will be going to school with Larry and learning about "Whole Body Listening." Mr. Potato might make an appearance too! :)

Thinking: 

I absolutely love my husband and feel so blessed to spend my life with him! He makes me smile and is extremely supportive...even when I'm up late working on TPT products. 

Wanting:

I love to run and a new pair of running shoes is at the top of my birthday wish list! 

Needing:

Our first bible study covering the book, "Captivating" begins next week! I need to start reading...tonight!
